Examining entrepreneurial action towards sustainable business opportunity: perspectives from Nigerian entrepreneurs.

The aim of this research is to examine entrepreneurial action in creating a resilient and sustainable business opportunity and how approaches to this vary depending on the entrepreneurial context, that is Nigeria and Nigerian perspectives. This research is grounded in creation theory considering its three assumptions in entrepreneurship. In both academic and practical areas, how entrepreneurs take entrepreneurial action to increase entrepreneurial success is an issue of interest. Existing research primarily looks at the impact of entrepreneurial action reasoning on the survival and growth of new ventures from the standpoint of financial performance, but few studies look at the entrepreneurship process and new venture business opportunities in the midst of a crisis. It is crucial to examine how different contexts shape their approaches to entrepreneurship and business opportunities. This research accepts social constructionism from both ontological and epistemological perspectives, supported by an interpretivism philosophy. This method facilitates a comprehensive knowledge of the entrepreneurial actions of Nigerian entrepreneurs in creating sustainable business opportunities. The research utilised data from twenty-nine (29) entrepreneurs, who were interviewed using semi-structured interviews over Zoom. The study reveals that entrepreneurs, especially start-ups, have a significant capacity to take sustainable actions in uncertain situations, as they can integrate sustainability practices into their business models, leading to long-term resilience and positive societal impact.
