Sporhundur : Digital Forensics Tool

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

This thesis presents Sporhundur, a post-processing tool developed to assist with the analysis of extracted mobile forensic data. The system is designed to process compressed archives produced by forensic extraction tools, locate potential geographical coordinates and related location data, and persist the results in an SQLite database for further review. The project focuses on offline use and structured handling of forensic artifacts, making the tool suitable for use in air-gapped environments where internet access is not available. The implementation combines archive processing, metadata extraction, coordinate detection, logging, and result management into a modular command-line system. The final system demonstrates how extracted mobile data can be processed in a controlled and repeatable way, while supporting investigative workflows that require reliable access to location-related evidence.
