Assessing psychometric properties of the Acceptance and Action Questionnaire-II (AAQ-II), the Cognitive Fusion Questionnaire (CFQ), and the Valuing Questionnaire (VQ)

The aim of this study was to assess the psychometric properties and factor structure of the Icelandic translation of the Acceptance and Action Questionnaire-II (AAQ-II), the Cognitive Fusion Questionnaire (CFQ), and the Valuing Questionnaire (VQ). A second aim was to compare the scores on these measures between university students and clinical groups. Participants were a total of 200 individuals, 89 students from Reykjavik University and 111 from clinical groups. The clinical samples consisted of individuals with chronic pain and individuals with mixed mental disorders that were seeking vocational rehabilitation. All participants answered the three questionnaires. Results showed that all measures had adequate psychometric properties with Cronbach‘s alpha ranging from .72 to .95. Exploratory factor analysis showed a clear single factor for both the AAQ-II and the CFQ in both groups. The results of the factor analysis for the VQ showed the expected two factors in the clinical groups but not among the students. One-way ANOVA indicated a significant difference in the total score of all questionnaires between the groups. A Bonferroni post hoc analysis showed a significant difference between students and the clinical groups. However, there was no significant difference between the mental health group and the chronic pain group.
