The vast variety of neurons exhibiting strong compartmentalization in an intricate spatial organization makes the brain especially hard to understand. Neurons have been described based on their morphological, physiological and genetic characteristics. However, only the combination of all these characteristics build the “full picture” of the neuron. In order to reach complete understanding of neurons also in non-transgenic animals like the macaque, we have to rely on tools like AAVs to tag the specific cell type of choice for further investigation. The aim of this thesis is to develop a pipeline for the design of tools for targeting specific cell types in the brain of non-transgenic animal.","Radboud University, 03 september 2024","Promotor : Fries, P.
