Rooted in a local or supra local context, Entrepreneurial Communities collaborative craft solutions for difficult problems associated with sustainable development such as energy, food, and waste. Collaborating civilians, institutions, and organizations invest various means and resources and share the revenues of their collective actions. Learning by doing, they craft organizational constructs to create multiple, shared, and collective values. Moniek Kamm merged strategic management theory and collective action theory in this study exploring the nature and scope of Strategic Commoning: collaborative strategy development for place based sustainable development. A longitudinal, qualitative, comparative case study was conducted to capture strategy development in practice in twelve Dutch Entrepreneurial Communities. Taking their place-bound, multiple-value-creating, and collaborative foundations as a common denominator, this study brings a strategic perspective to collective action theory.
