Carbon capture from gas-fired power plant and integration with energy storage and CO2 utilisation
Abstract
dc:description.abstractThe new and existing gas fired power plant requires urgent and stronger implementation of carbon capture integration to reduce CO2 emission. In this study, an integrated carbon capture system produced through calcium looping (CaL) process is proposed to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, integrating heat recovered to supercritical steam cycle and other balance of plants in a combined cycle power plant (CCPP). The proposed system was modelled and analysed in Aspen Plus® engaging air and oxyfuel combustion process. In distinction to precious studies, this model investigates and analyses three designs for the proposed scenarios.

The intermittent nature of solar energy makes them unsuitable for providing on-demand electricity. In this study, an integrated concentrated solar power (CSP) and a thermochemical energy system delivered through a calcium looping (CaL) process is proposed to ensure continuous and stable electricity generation from a solar power system. The proposed system was modelled and analysed in Aspen Plus® with considerations for both day and night scenarios.

The integration and utilization of CO2 capture from power plants and other emission sources is a major concern. In this study, Carbon Capture utilization and integration system offered through Cao-based solvent in a Reverse water gas shift (RWGS) process is proposed for production of syngas. The proposed system was modelled and analysed in Aspen Plus® with considerations to analyse heat recovery, energy production and heat loss in the process.
