Several different theories try to describe quarkonium production, and while these theories agree with experimental measurements of production rates, theoretical predictions for quarkonium polarization vary. Careful measurement of the ϒ(<em> nS</em>) angular distribution along with the ϒ(<em>nS</em>) cross section can provide insight into the quarkonium production mechanism.
