Die taalgebruik van die Buyse van Mara

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

English: In this study different aspects concerning the dialect of the Buys' of Mara are discussed. The first chapter gives the historical background of the Buys group. The second chapter deals with the question of how the contact with different language groups, as set out in the first chapter, could have led to language change. Inthe third chapter, the language change that has taken place as a result of contact with other language groups, is discussed. In the fourth chapter, linguistic phenomena that can not be ascribed to contact with Bantu languages are discussed and in the last chapter the possibilities of the survival of the Buys dialect are examined.
