Two-phase closed thermosyphon with two-fluid mixtures.
Abstract
dc:descriptionAn experimental study was conducted to investigate the performance of stationary two-phase closed thermosyphons with two-fluid mixtures. Three mixtures were used as the working fluids: (1) water-ethanol, (2) water-ethyleneglycol and (3) water-glycerol. The results are presented to show the effects of ratio of two fluid component, mean operating temperature, different fluid mixtures, heat flux and inclination of the thermosyphon with respect to the direction of the gravitational force. An analytical model is presented to predict the variation of the overall heat transfer coefficients with mole fraction for the thermosyphon with binary mixtures. A good agreement between the prediction by the model and the experimental results was obtained.
