This study investigates whether the publics’ perception of the risks and benefits of widespread use of biometrics and their willingness to provide personal information has changed with the technology itself.The main objective of this study is to gain quantitative measures of how the public understands and feels about the use of biometric technology in the world they live in everyday. A review of related literature provided the basis for the design of survey questions, research methodology, data gathering and statistical analysis.The survey results indicate an overall lack of willingness by the public to release biometric information to both government and private sectors. Data security related to system management and maintenance, as well as information misuse by individuals and groups was also a major concern by all respondents.
