Abstract
dc:descriptionIn modern industry, the lead acid battery plays a very important role. Electric vehicles such as, golf cars and fork lift trucks all use a lead acid battery. However, the battery often is not be used in the right way, and this leads to a short battery service life. One of the main reasons that the battery service life decreases is because the user ignores part of the charging procedure. A lead acid battery needs to have a long, low current conditioning charge after several charging cycles in order to prolong its lifetime. This thesis describes the development and testing of a low cost battery charging monitor which can notify the battery user when the battery should have a conditioning charge.
