Noah's Woods

Jennifer Chang, AdvisorA woman's fragmented body becomes the landscape of these narrative poems concerned with the religion behind worship and the myth behind desire. The searching, feminine voice in Noah's Woods struggles to understand her identity as Woman, and in doing so, makes biblical the experiences, landscapes, and male influences she has encountered and obsessed over in the course of her search. As the narrator journeys from the ocean shores to the forests and down into the depths of the mines to find wholeness and a higher power, these poems explore the speaker's evolving definitions of womanhood, female agency, and sense of self.
