AN ANNOTATED CHECKLIST OF CRABS OF THE SUPERFAMILY PORTUNOIDEA RAFINESQUE, 1815 FROM THE PHILIPPINES (CRUSTACEA: DECAPODA: BRACHYURA)

The present revised checklist of the Portunoidea of the Philippines contains 115 species of 27 genera/subgenera, including one new genus, two new species and 8 new records for the Philippines. As a result of this work, 2 other new species are described from elsewhere in the Indo-West Pacific. The study also includes a revision of a small group of species previously placed in the Portunus (Achelous) De Haan, 1833, and a group of semi-commercial species in the Portunus (Xiphonectes) hastatoides Fabricius, 1798 species group. This is the highest diversity of portunoids known thus far from any area.
