The pursuit of overtone of ?Distance? is a poetic tradition of Chinese classical poetry. The orgin, evolution and materity of this tradition all completed in Wei-Jin period. The overtone of ?Distance? means self transcendence in the real world. The main themes about the pursuit of overtone of ?Distance? almost occurs in the periods from Wei to LiuSong. Poets are searching the way of self-transcendence which enables them to have absolute freedom against the outside world. The Chinese way of self-transcendence is different from the western way. The transcendence in western enrolls the religion element while the major stream of ancient Chinese only consider immanent transcendence.
