INDUSTRIAL WORKERS IN MODERN SINGAPORE

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

This is a study of ideology applied to a study of workers in Singapore. The thesis covers three main areas: the first examines the historical and institutional conditions of labour subordination. The second investigates the everyday experiences of workers; with a case study of workers in a shipyard. The third locates the position of foreign workers within the national economy and polity; and considers the consequences for this faction of the workingclass.
