TRANSPARENT ELECTRODE AND NOVEL BUFFER LAYER MATERIALS FOR ORGANIC PHOTOVOLTAICS
Abstract
dc:description.abstractPhotovoltaic energy is one of the promising renewable energy sources, among them, organic photovoltaics (OPVs) are emerging because of its low-cost, light-weight and intrinsic flexibility of active layers. In OPVs devices, the transparent electrode, which enable light to pass through and buffer layer materials, including hole and electron transporting layers, which can establish ohmic contacts between the active layer and the two electrodes are essential parts. In this thesis, the study on transparent conductive polymeric electrode, which can replace normally used electrode indium tin oxide (ITO) was carried out. The ITO free device can exhibit comparable efficiency to ITO based devices. In addition, some novel buffer layer materials, including sonicated PEDOT:PSS, perovskite and metal/dendrimer complex compound were investigated and the device performance by using them can be comparable or even higher than the one with conventional buffer layer materials.
