Unlike traditional BB designs, which limit reservations to within a single administrative domain and for immediate usage, this work supports inter-domain negotiation and advance reservation efficiently through the Simple Inter-domain Bandwidth Broker Signaling eXtended (SIBBS-X) protocol. Compared to other advance reservation systems, which use slotted-time algorithms, this BB work implements a novel AVL-tree based continuous-time algorithm and offers lower call rejection rate and higher resource utilization. Furthermore, instead of using the commonly-used but rigid ``all-or-nothing'' approach, this work proposes a novel probe-based reservation scheme which effectively supports flexibility in reservation requests. This scheme not only offers a faster way of obtaining alternative reservations, but also incurs less signaling and computational overheads.
