ZETHRENE AND EXTENDED ZETHRENE BASED DIRADICALOIDS AND TETRARADICALOIDS

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

Open-shell polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) have recently attracted increasing interest due to their unique optical, electronic and magnetic properties and potential applications in organic electronics, nonlinear optics, spintronics, and energy storage devices. This thesis describes the synthesis, physical properties of a series of zethrene-based biradicaloids and tetraradicaloids. These new compounds exhibit attractive electronic, optical and magnetic properties due to their moderate radical character.
