Achieving efficient real-time virtual reality architectural visualisation

The thesis objectives are to identify ways to achieve efficient real-time virtual reality (VR) architectural visualisation by optimising selected factors, predict performance and propose a faster and efficient workflow. The research initially looks at the techniques of optimisation for VR visualisation. These techniques are then used in independent variable tests to find their individual relationships with frame rate, time taken to travel a distance, vertex memory and texture memory. Next, the quantitative and qualitative aspects of the VR visualisations are tested through experiments and a survey. The variables chosen are from findings of the earlier optimisation techniques and independent tests. The findings are integrated into a workflow and best practice guideline for those who wish to use VR technology for presentation and spaces visualisation. It aims at helping them create VR projects in the fastest possible manner and be more productive in VR visualisation with the resources available to them.
