Subtidal concrete piling fauna in Monterey Harbor, California
Abstract
dc:description.abstractPiling organisms were scraped off one side of a concrete piling from the bottom to the low intertidal zone beneath Municipal Wharf No. 2 in Monterey Harbor, California. Sampling was performed at 0.5 m(2) surface area increments. Wet biomass measurements were taken, the organisms were identified and an evaluation of species abundance in each sample was made. Data are given by a Table of Species with abundance in each sample, a Species List with comments on particular organisms, drawings representing the more prominent animals observed and in situ photographs of various piling animals.
