A three dimensional solution of the transient field problem suing isoparametric finite elements.
Abstract
dc:description.abstractAn isoparametric finite element formulation solving a general form of the transient field equation is presented in this thesis. The formulation is developed for fields in three-dimensional Euclidean space. A FORTRAN IV computer program employing double precision arithmetic, compact storage techniques, and providing the option of several numerical integration methods and types of finite elements is presented. Data input may be in rectangular, cylindrical, or spherical coordinates and variations in time integration step size are permitted. Time dependent boundary conditions are not considered. Comparisons of theoretical and computer solutions for a variety of test problems demonstrate close agreement. Instructions for use of the program are included.
