To provide all students with access to rigorous educational programs, many school districts have focused on expanding Advanced Placement (AP) programs; however, the achievement gaps experienced by these minority students limit their participation. This study examined a district’s efforts to expand the AP participation of these students that includes identification and recruitment and suggested that this expansion requires leadership to engage in a transformation of school culture that promotes racial consciousness and is guided by a clear vision.
