Evaluating The Effectiveness of an Alternative High School Program Serving At Risk Students

<p>The Glenbrook Evening High School is a program for high school students who for various reasons are not succeeding in a regular school setting. It is a choice program that was created in 1975 with the goal of assisting "at risk" students who were in danger of dropping out of high school. GBEHS relies on the small size of the school and personal relationships to assist students in graduating from high school. The study seeks to obtain information as to how well students are doing once they have graduated from the GBEHS program. Sixty graduates from the 2000-2010 school years participated in a phone survey and in focus groups. The data collected from the survey as well as the focus group responses were studied to answer the research primary question. Findings of the research and recommendations for improvement were made.</p>
