Modeling aperture radiation for RF interference applications

<p>"The first topic proposes a rigorous method of moments(MoM) solution to evaluate the shielding effectiveness of a metallic enclosure with apertures on top wall by formulating a pair of coupled mixed potential integral equations (MPIEs). Application of Ewald transform to the computation of Green's function in the cavity yields fast convergence of series summation. Good agreements with a commercial tool, EMC studio, have proved the effectiveness of the proposed approach.</p> <p>The second topic deals with prediction of electromagnetic interference radiation from components or interconnects in a printed circuit board by using convolution of the half-space Green's functions and the equivalent noise sources obtained by planar near-field scanning techniques. The sampling data array is converted into an expansion of vector roof-top basis functions. Numerical integrations are used to calculate both near-field radiations of the noise sources.</p> <p>The third topic proposes a physical-based model of conductive loss for impedance of power/ground plane pair and metal enclosure. Loss tangent tern in complex wave number is formulated by the stored energy and energy loss of each resonant mode, which provide more physical insight than traditional skin effect loss.</p> <p>The fourth topic proposes a vectorless technique to estimate the statistics of switching events and the associated dynamic power dissipation by a logic circuit. Methods are presented to reduce computation time by estimating covariance only within local logic trees. The approach should prove useful for rapidly estimating the "reasonable worst case" power or current likely to be consumed by a logic circuit"--Abstract, page iv.</p>
