NaNbO₃ - BaTiO₃ - BaSnO₃ ceramic dielectrics

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

<p>"A. The Problem.</p> <p>The purpose of this investigation was to form by ceramic processes a number of compositions in the ternary system NaNbO3 - BaSnO3 - BaTiO3, to determine certain dielectric properties of these, to study them by means or x-ray diffraction, and to determine the extent or correlation possible between the compositional variation of dielectric properties and the x-ray results.</p> <p>Compositions investigated contained 50 mole percent or less BaSnO3. Materials and methods of forming were chosen with the intent that the final bodies should be pure oxide compositions as represented in the ternary system, although some ordinarily desirable properties were sacrificed to this end.</p> <p>The dielectric properties investigated were the dielectric constant and dissipation factor of each composition at temperatures from -40°C. to 200°C., measured at a frequency of 1 kilocycle per second.</p> <p>The use of x-ray diffraction was aimed at obtaining a knowledge of the number and kinds of crystal structures present in all compositions at room temperature, and at determining the variation of these properties with change in composition.</p> <p>A comparison was made of the data obtained from the dielectric and the x-ray measurements to determine the extent to which the two types of measurements can be dependably correlated"--Introduction, page 1.</p>
