This study investigates the prevalence of smoking among depressed patients in Veterans Affairs primary care. Correlates of smoking status were examined in order to improve understanding of the relations among smoking status, psychosocial characteristics, physical and mental health problems, suicide risk, mental health stigma and substance misuse, and to find predictive factors of smoking abstinence and cessation over time.
