Stimulus selection as a function of meaningfulness and positional cues within a matrix

"The purpose of the present study was to determine the effects of different positions inside a matrix (contextual cues) on learning (L) and transfer. The primary stimuli consisted of a list of nine CVC's and the background stimuli were the positions mentioned above. Both the levels of CVC meaningfulness and the size of the matrix were manipulated. The responses were numbers 1 to 9. Ss learned lists of PA items with or without contextual cues until they reached a criterion of two perfect trials plus five overtraining trials, using the anticipation method."
