Abstract
dc:description.abstractRemembering is a collection of linked short stories that tell of one family's evolution over several generations as they confront their own histories, within the larger historical context of war, prosperity, economic depression, and post-WW II America. The stories are influenced by the minimalism of Raymond Carver in particular; by the emphasis that such writers as Wendell Berry and George Mackay Brown place upon geography; by the exploration of human and, in particular, family drama of Leo Tolstoy and William Trevor; and by positive psychology and the psychotherapeutic theory and technique of cognitive restructuring.
