The poems in this collection discuss the poet's ongoing struggle with faith; his father's gay identity; the difficulties of watching, as a child, his father worsen over time with advancing stages of schizophrenia, and the duality of growing up in urban St. Louis, while spending summers on his father's farm in upper east Tennessee.
