Blood Work

<p>BLOOD WORK is a collection of poems I have written over the last six years. Though I hold three undergraduate degrees (English, Theatre, Philosophy), I chose to pursue graduate studies in Creative Writing to try to improve my poetry. The career path I am attempting is in entertainment, so this Master's Degree will probably not be used in any of my future vocations. It was simply something I wanted. It has been quite profitable for me to be able to work on this degree without the burden of thinking about getting a job in the field or if employers will be impressed with where I went to school or my GPA. This degree is a luxury. BLOOD WORK features poems about familial struggles, issues of faith, love and unavoidable death. The poems take place in old homes from my past, the apartments I used to manage and other places around Southwest Missouri.</p> <p>BLOOD WORK is divided into four sections. The first section is entitled AUGUST POEMS and these are poems about my younger times. Next is OCTOBER POEMS, which is a collection of poems centered on the ghost month, and others about the unknown. NOVEMBER POEMS comes next, and is a group of poems featuring all that is sacred to me, and lastly SOLSTICE POEMS is the last section, and features poetry from colder places.</p>
