Organizing A Small Professional Theatre In The State Of Missouri: A Procedural Guide
Abstract
dc:description.abstractThis thesis provides procedural guidance for the theatre producer organizing a small professional theatre (SPT) in the State of Missouri. The information focuses on the steps commonly taken by new producers to establish a SPT as a legally and functionally operational entity. Data for the thesis was gathered through personal interviews with the founders of five professional theatres in this state and through direct contact with agencies or representative agencies which affect the new SPT producer. The study revealed five principal concerns that the small professional theatre producers must address: planning, incorporation, taxation, funding and theatre operations. The study also showed that, in most cases, adequate attention to these concerns requires a minimum of one year.
