It was found that SRF in nonimmunized mice ranged from 8 to 20 percent with a mean value of 12.0 + 2.1 percent. Immunofluorescence studies indicated that 40.7 ± 7.65 percent of these rosette forming cells (RFC) were immunoglobulin G (IgG) positive. Alternatively, BALB/c mice immunized with Listeria exhibited a depressed SRF. In these mice SRF ranged from 6 to 13.5 percent with a mean value of 8.7 + 1.4 percent. In this case immunofluorescence revealed that 62.7 ± 6.0 percent of the RFCs were IgG positive. The difference between the mean SRF values in nonimmunized and immunized mice, and the difference between the mean values of IgG positive RFCs in the two systems were determined to be significant by the Student's t test. Concanavalin A (Con A) binding studies were also performed to assess differences between lymphocyte surfaces in nonimmunized and immunized mice.
