The Politics of Language and Writing: Multiculturalism and Other Socially Constructed Issues in the College Composition Classroom

The premise of my thesis is that composition and rhetoric has been politicized by socially constructed issues such as race, culture, class, economics, gender, sexual orientation, and so on. Composition and rhetoric have also been politicized by the traditional definition of politics--the notion of being either liberal or conservative, with those ideologies applied in writing and the classroom. The thesis consist of a series of interviews with people who bring politics into their writing and classrooms. In this thesis, I do not impose my opinions on these issues, but rather, allow the interviews to speak for themselves in the hope that the raw data presented will provide useful information for members of academia.
