Through a comprehensive literature review, three measurements in the quality of patient care, and statistical analysis, it was concluded that DRGs have resulted in shifted medical services and reduced hospital length of stay for Medicare patients. It was uncertain if this shift actually reduced Medicare hospital expenditures as many studies have claimed.
