Some Probability Methods For DNA Sequence Analysis

Probability models are employed in the analysis of data emerging from DNA sequence studies. To sequence DNA sequences, one of the methods employed is to sequence overlapping fragments of the DNA. These overlapping fragments form a contig. In this thesis, probability methods to study the mean number of contigs and mean contig size are presented. We also consider fragments with markers present, which form anchored contigs. Probability methods to study repeat nature of any specific nucleotide or nucleotides are discussed. Some of these results are review in nature, and proofs of some results are presented.
