GIS can be used to analyze wildlife habitat. The purpose of this research was to use existing government data: Gap Analysis Project (GAP) data, Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data and Digital Line Graph (DLG) data in a GIS mule deer habitat model. The study area was the Oglala National Grasslands and surrounding area of Northwest Nebraska. A GIS model of the study area was constructed and tested. The model was then tested for accuracy using ground truth points.
