Abstract
dc:description.abstractWaves of cement is a collection of four short stories, all written in first person, and with varying themes. "Aspero Ranch" is a Western story about an unwelcoming dude ranch in the Rocky Mountains and the wranglers who work there; " Smoking and lying on the couch" is the story of a depressed man and his sociopathic dog; "Rode hard and put up wet" is a story about a drawn-out one night stand that takes place in the country; "Trespassing" is about a guy who experiences two similar events at different times in his life that both lead to the same conclusion. All four of the stories are set in modern day and written in past tense.
