War With Chinese Characteristics: Chinese Intelligence Operations Against the American Target

The People's Republic of China possesses the single most hostile intelligence service operating against the United States today. It uses a large civilian and military intelligence apparatus to operate against American targets in areas that are critical to China's national security and strategic modernization. These areas include America's science and technology base, its military, political and academic arenas, and the national nuclear laboratories. This thesis addresses the ways in which China's intelligence community works against such targets to satisfy its information requirements. The outcome of this thesis is an open source counterintelligence threat assessment of China's intelligence operations against the United States.
