A Causal-Comparative Study of the Influence of Loss Issues on the Anxiety Levels of Adolescent Psychiatric In-Patients

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

This study examines the issue as to whether or not the presence of grieving would significantly affect either the State Anxiety or the Trait Anxiety of adolescent psychiatric in-patients. A sample of 71 adolescent in-patients were administered a clinical interview to determine the presence or absence of grieving issues and were then administered the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. There was found to be a significant difference between grieving and non-grieving patients regarding both their State Anxiety and their Trait Anxiety.
