The Synthesis, Characterization, Spectroscopic and Biological Activity Studies of Pt(Ii) and Pd(Ii) Cyanoximates

Some of the platinum (Pt) and palladium (Pd) compounds are established anticancer inorganice pharmaceuticals. Substantial biological activity (growth regulation, antimicrobial, pesticide detoxifying) was also found during the last two decases of investigations of cyanoximes. An attempt has been made to combine useful properties of both classes of compounds in order to create a new group of potential anti-tumor agents. A series of bivalent Pd and Pt complexes with the cyanoximes has been prepared and characterized. In all obtained complexes, anionic cyanoximes exhibit bidentate chelate coordination to transition metals forming either cis- or trans- complexes. The anticancer activity of both free cyanoximes and their metal complexes were studied in vitro experiments using human cervical cancer HeLa cell lines. Two out of nine examined metal complexes echibited substantial antiproliferating activity that may lead to potential biomedical applications.
