The Vascular Flora of Lost Valley, Newton County, Arkansas

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

A floristic survey of the vascular plants of Lost Valley, Newton County, Arkansas, was made between April 1974 and May 1975. An annotated checklist of 636 taxa representing 102 families, 366 genera, and 249 Newton County records is included. Five plant communities are described which contain a number of endemics, disjuncts and relic species. The occurrence of the flora within this unique area is discussed in relation to the topography, geology, climate, soils, and past vegetational history.
