The subject was pre-tested to identify performance levels on cognitive, language, and reading measures, as well as spelling achievement and developmental spelling level. A five week program to improve spelling through individualized instruction was designed. Post-test results indicated that intervention strategies tailored to the child's individual profile were effective in improving spelling achievement. The discussion focuses on the nature of spelling deficits, developmental spelling research, assessment techniques, and implications for treatment.","abstract_html":"This case study examined the efficacy of an individualized intervention strategy for treating spelling difficulties in a fifth grade student.
