Abstract
dc:description.abstractThe critical introduction details the similarities between On Little Cat Feet and the filmic traditions of filmmakers John Schlesinger, Peter Weir, and François Truffaut. On Little Cat Feet is the coming of age story of thirteen year old Robert Thompson, sent to live with his adult brother while his parents make a desperate attempt to save their marriage. While Robert lives with his brother, Robert imagines his parents' inevitable divorce, deals with his manic-depressive brother's failing of medical school, has his first romance, and defeats a sadistic clique of boys his age. The script portrays a model of the post-nuclear family: the instutition of marriage is dead, and children are often left to rear themselves.
