A two-factor mixed design was utilized, whereby five nonfluent aphasic subjects and six fluent aphasic subjects completed a naming test under the two conditions of stimuli. Data for quantitative analyses consisted of the number of spontaneously correct naming responses and the number of total correct naming responses. An analysis of variance showed that the number of total correct naming responses for the fluent group of subjects improved significantly using colored visual stimuli. That is, naming improved for the fluent aphasic subjects with the combination of colored visual stimuli and a phonemic cue.
