The two methods of instruction used were the Kodaly method and a traditional method. Using a post-test-only control group design and a t test for independent samples, it was found that the first grade students (N=46) instructed using the Kodaly method achieved significantly higher scores on a teacher-made test than the first grade students (N=33) who were instructed using the more traditional approach or method.
