Development and implementation of setup time reduction strategies for a 700-ton Danley progressive die press
Abstract
dc:description.abstractSetup time reduction is one of the principle forces enabling lean manufacturing. This thesis documents the formulation and reduction to practice of two stages of a setup time reduction strategy for a 700-ton Danley progressive die press. Common methodologies of setup time reduction were presented and discussed, with the purpose of developing a general algebra for setup reduction. The algebra was applied to develop a specific strategy for setup time reduction of a 700-ton Danley progressive die press. Attempts were then made to reduce the strategy to practice.
