Chapter 2 describes the development and detailed mechanistic investigation of the enantioselective synthesis of tertiary alkyl fluorides via the [alpha]-fluorination of ketenes catalyzed by a planar-chiral nucleophile with N-fluorodibenzenesulfonimide in the presence of sodium pentafluorophenoxide.
