The competitive advantage : a case study of Taiwan's semiconductor industry
Abstract
dc:description.abstractAs the world enters into the twenty-first century, technology is now more than ever the key factor in the promotion of industrial development and economic growth. Countries must carry out their industrial technology development in such a way as to create strong high-tech industries that can successfully compete in the global markets, while moving their national economies in the direction of prosperity. In light of these challenges, an overall technology development strategy has became the critical factor for success. This thesis investigated the competitive advantages of Taiwanese semiconductor industry; specific areas of study included: ** The development of Taiwan's semiconductor industry, ** The competitive advantages of semiconductor companies in Taiwan, ** Evaluation of the competitive strategies and its value chains, ** The sustainability of the competitive advantages of Taiwanese companies, ** Taiwan's industry value chain and the growing China market, ** The challenges confronted in the future strategic direction. Taiwan's semiconductor industry is excellent in its quality manufacturing and operation management. How can it move its semiconductor industry in an innovation-oriented and high value-added direction? This is the most significant challenge confronting industry and government in the next few years.
