An overview was presented on current development and competing technologies within research and industry with regard to advantages and drawbacks of the technology of various organic light-emitting devices. The basic principles concerning the light emission from various devices were also presented. An intellectual property search on the technologies of the organic light-emitting devices revealed there was no patent to block the technology of organic light-emitting device based on Ru(bpy)t complex.
