It proposes that aesthetic qualities of light inform the design of urban public space. The qualities of light investigated in the thesis are inspired by artists, architects and public spaces. The proposed qualities combine with the existing vocabulary of light to produce a design proposal unique to the site. The design proposal is used to reflect on existing light regulations for cities like Boston.
